Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful! (Another Snow Day!)

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful! Britain's in the grip of the coldest winter since 1963 and I'm stuck at home on a snow day.

Britain's in the grip of the coldest winter since 1963, temperatures well below zero and with five inches of snow I've been unable to get to work. I have been able to get out for short walks to see how good the snow is and take a few pictures, unfortunately as good as the snow is - the ice is just as bad.
In the area where I live there are only two ways to get out of the estate, both of which involve steep hills - all of which are frozen over. Only the very brave and the 4x4's are attempting to escape and as we were walking around we had to assist several cars to return back home having given up. Not something I would like to try in a rear wheel drive automatic!
I have been getting on by working from home, despite the internet cable freezing over, so it's not all bad.
Here is a selection of pictures of the snow and ice from January 2010.
One thing I did find during my walks was that my knee injury is hugely affected by the cold. After only 30 minutes in the snow my knee aches and shortly after I have a definite limp going on. It gets worse when I get back home to warm up and I am left with a limp for a day or two afterwards. Guess that will only get worse as time goes by.
And as a final note - take a look at all the people trying to get out onto the main roads Thursday morning. Note the abandoned cars both sides of the road.
