Another year goes past, another year older. This post is a self-reflection article and my annual review of the past year. What have I achieved since my last birthday? What am I looking forward to in the upcoming year?

When I look past on the previous 12 months, I was surprised at just how many things I'd accomplished. These are the highlights.

ViSta Gymnastics Academy Opened

In October 2018 I co-founded ViSta Gymnastics Academy with my wonderful girlfriend. ViSta Gymnastics Academy is a rhythmic gymnastics club in West Lothian providing opportunities for children to participate in this beautiful sport. I volunteer my time to the club and have been appointed club secretary and treasurer. I also look after the club website, music production, logos and help with fundraising activities.

Also in October, my wonderful girlfriend and I celebrated our first anniversary together with Sushi in Ichiban Noodle bar and a few drinks afterwards. Here's to another successful year together!

Also in October (busy month!) I was able to see some of the filming of Hobbs and Shaw, the Fast and Furious spin-off which was being filmed in Glasgow. I was able to get some photos behind the scenes of the car chases and action scenes. You can see more photos in my Glasgow gallery.

In December we travelled to Bonn, Germany for Christmas and New Year celebrations and I was able to cross of a bucket list item - "Visit a Traditional Christmas Market in Germany".

Ditching the Desktop PC

I finally ditched my aging desktop PC and bought a new Surface Book 2. This was primarily due to the fact I do a lot more work away from home, but also my desktop is nearly 10 years old now and needed an upgrade. My old laptop is also nearly 10 years old and weighs a tonne, so transporting that thing around was painful. The Surface Book 2 is a powerful desktop replacement and lightweight so was an ideal choice for me.

85,000 Photos Organised

I spent a lot of the year going through, sorting and processing 85,000 photos I've taken since 2006, sorting them into categories, rejecting out of focus and picking the best ones for Flickr. I've reduced the total down to 64,000 and uploaded 3,500 to Flickr albums.

After a year of hard work I finally completed my certificate in mentoring and coaching from The Institute of Leadership & Management. This course teaches effective workplace coaching and gives the knowledge and skills required to plan and organise a programme of coaching.

Holiday in Gibraltar, Spain and Morocco

Our summer holiday for 2019 was to seefriends in Gibraltar where we also saw parts of southern Spain and made a trip to Morocco, gaining my first passport stamps.

Also in this year, I finished another module of my Astronomy degree which leaves me with 9 completed and 8 left to go. Halfway there!

I also redeveloped this website and template, merging together 6 blogs to reduce the amount of time I spend on maintenance and writing content. It's easier for me to maintain and write content for one blog than 6, so now I just have one focus.

Here's to an equally successful next 12 months!
