The wait is finally over and my bike has been delivered today! It arrived around 10 am in glorious sunshine, clear skies and a cool gentle breeze.

Having looked over the bike and gone up and down the drive a few times I headed off to Riders (in the car) to get the rest of my riding gear, a waterproof cover and some chain lube. I've now got a pair of Kevlar-lined Draggin Jeans for fair weather riding, when the weather turns later in the year I'll invest in some proper waterproof trousers.

By the time I got back from Riders it was time for a bite to eat, then I walked down to the shops get my hair cut, came home and made some vegetarian Sushi and helped get some BBQ stuff ready for later on in the evening. By the time I'd done all this it was getting on 6 and I still haven't been out on my bike yet! My sister and brother in law were coming over soon for a BBQ and I was going to go out for a ride with him.

Unfortunately, when we got sorted to go out, kitted up and were ready to set off ... the heavens opened to a thunderstorm. How typical is that!!! We went off around the block anyway and got very wet but at least I didn't drop my bike on the first day!

My new Yamaha is so much better than the CG125 I did my training on, but everything is very new and takes a bit of getting used to, especially the breaks and the clutch. I've got to take it easy and run the engine in properly for the first 600 miles so no going above 5000rpm.

I was hoping to ride to work tomorrow, but I don't feel that I've had enough time to get to know the bike to do that yet. I'll have another go tomorrow, a little further and a little longer and hopefully in the dry!!!
