Learning never exhausts the mind

It's that time of year again, time to look back at the past 12 months and the things I have done, places I've seen and to look forward to the next 12 months and ponder what may lay ahead for me.

The year started with another mountain (only a little one this time) to get some preparation in for climbing Ben Nevis later in the year. Pen y Fan is the highest peak in South Wales, situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park. At 886 metres (2,907 ft) above sea-level, it is also the highest peak in Britain south of the Snowdonia mountain range (Snowdon is 1085 metres or 3,560 ft).

In April I bought another Mercedes to replace my ageing 320e which is suffering from a decaying engine wiring loom and is on it's last legs. This Mercedes 190E is ironically older, but in much better condition and everything works!

In the summer I bought my first big bike, a Kawasaki VN800 custom ready for when I pass my full bike licence, which I completed at the end of September.

Having not done anything in the way of preparation for climbing Ben Nevis since February, it was probably best that we not attempt it now, so instead we loaded up our bikes for a Scotland roadtrip taking in the sights of the Isle of Skye and the highlands.

While 2011 may not have been my busiest year, I have done several amazing things and looking forward to the coming year!
