HP Pavilion DV7-6C01EA Laptop ReviewReview of the HP Pavilion DV7 which I shall using now I'm working remotely or on clients premises conducting presentations or coding.
The HP Pavilion DV7-6C01EA has a high spec at a reasonable price, typical of HP, which is why I like HP equipment.
The laptop features an AMD quad-core A6-3430MX processor clocked at 1.7GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 17.3" screen, DVDRW, Webcam, Bluetooth, biometric reader and Windows 7 Home Premium 64. Interestingly it features a dual graphics chip setup which I haven't seen before and it makes a lot of sense. The two chips are an AMD HD6520G and an HD7670M, the former being used for gaming graphics and uses more battery power, while the latter is a more energy-efficient power-saving chip used for everyday applications and Windows itself.
While the laptop seems quite large and heavy (my previous laptop was a much smaller HP TX1250 with 12.1" screen) it does pack a serious punch when it comes to performance. It is quite capable of running Word, Excel, Photoshop, Visual Studio, SQL Server, EVE Online and web browsing simultaneously, all day. It would be more than capable of replacing a desktop machine if you are short on space.
The Beats Audio system sounds good and the subwoofer, although small, delivers a decent bass for its size.
All in all, this is a great all-rounder, capable of being a gaming laptop and a productive workhorse with more than enough storage and memory. It also features an empty drive bay for an additional hard drive!
