EVE Online Damage Type Cheatsheet - What to Tank and What to Shoot

In EVE Online, there are four basic types of damage. Electromagnetic (EM), Kinetic, Thermal and Explosive. All weapons in EVE Online deal at least one (often two) of these damage categories, and each ship has varied resistances to each.

Mastering the understanding of these various types of damage not only allows you to survive longer but also empowers you to deal more damage to hostile ships, giving you a strategic advantage in your gameplay.

For practical application, each of the different NPC factions in EVE Online has its unique damage types which you can tank and deal damage to. This cheat sheet, a valuable tool, shows you each faction's strengths and weaknesses. By confidently using this resource, you can fit your ship for optimum damage and tank, enhancing your gameplay strategy.

Drone Damage Types

Minmatar drones are the fastest (50% faster than Gallente drones with MWD activated, which stands for 'Micro Warp Drive '), so they specialise in chasing down fast ships. They do, however, do the smallest amount of damage. Gallente drones deal the greatest damage (23% more than Minmatar drones) but are also the slowest. In terms of damage and speed, Amarr and Caldari drones fall somewhere between Gallente and Minmatar drones (Caldari drones do slightly less damage than Gallente drones but are slightly faster; Amarr drones do slightly more damage than Minmatar drones but are somewhat slower). These drones orbit a little further away from their targets, allowing them to deal more constant damage, and they are a little stronger (+25% more hit points when compared to Minmatar and Gallente drones).
